Cabling run for communal TV system using Rope Access

Keythorpe Court

Keythorpe Court is a very well maintained property in Bournemouth; the building is surrounded by perfectly kept gardens and grass lawns. The Managing Agents take great care in protecting the gardens.

The aim of the project was to allow the residents to have a fully function system with the optional extras, but most importantly the system was to be installed without damaging the gardens.

The Managing Agents knew that planning the cable runs was very important in protecting the gardens, as cherry pickers and scissor lifts would have damaged the land and they could not be used.  Our Rope Access service provided the perfect solution as our skills mean that there is no heavy machinery, we are a two man team with years of experience and all we need is our ropes!

For this job we ran two coxial cables to each flat: this allowed the residents to connect Sky TV at a later date if they so wished.

As with every project there were issues which we had to overcome. Our normal anchoring point is the roof and at Keythorpe Court there was not a great deal for us to anchor from. Our solution was to use a combination of the lift motor room as anchors and a self anchor system,  this allowed our team to set up a completely stand alone anchor system and efficiently complete the task in hand.

In just one day we completed all the cable runs, this is extremely fast in comparison to the time it would take to scaffold the building. Most importantly we were able to complete the job without causing any damage to the beautiful gardens.
